Robots created by students at Netzach’s “Torat Chesed” school in Jerusalem won two trophies in a national schools’ robotics competition.
The robotics team from the Torat Chesed elementary school in Givat Ze’ev participated in the annual MasterBit competition as part of the international First schools’ robotics program, organized together with the BabaDa Charedi STEM science program.
The students built a robot vehicle using LEGO® Technic™pieces, and used a computer to program it to perform tasks on a special board. They also invented and constructed an innovative Masterpiece robot made of wood, designed for young children to play with. In the competition, held in Jerusalem on July 9, their robots were awarded second prize for design and first prize for execution.
Congratulating the Torat Chesed team, Netzach CEO Michael Nechtiler said: “Since the Netzach Yisrael Elementary School won the FIRST national schools robotics program in 2022, many other Charedi schools have opened robotics clubs that compete in this national competition. The skills involved in designing and building robots require our students to understand mathematics and computer science, as well as functional design. We are proud of our students for taking first and second place, and for blazing a trail in the application of science to real-world problems.”
Six boys from the same school also won prizes in a national schools’ chess competition, and were congratulated by the Mayor of Givat Ze’ev, Yosef Asraf.
These prizes continue the Network’s winning streak, with five national awards presented to its schools since the beginning of 2024.
